# Cross-posting to social media: post everywhere without losing views

> What cross-posting is, how it differs from auto-posting, which formats fit each social network and how to publish one post everywhere without losing views.

Cross-posting means publishing one post on several social networks. It saves time when 2 conditions are met: the format and caption change for each network, and videos go out without other apps' logos. Otherwise the copy on Instagram loses its place in recommendations to the original. And the inquiries that do come in get lost across the direct messages of 5 different networks unless you gather them in one place.

## What is cross-posting and how is it different from auto-posting?

**In short:** cross-posting answers "where does the post go" (several networks at once), auto-posting answers "who publishes it" (a service instead of a person), and scheduled posting answers "when" (at a time chosen in advance).

People mix these terms up because services do all of this with one button.

| Term | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-posting | One post goes out on several social networks | A video about a new product on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts |
| Auto-posting | A service publishes the post on schedule, with no manual upload | The video goes out on Thursday evening while you are busy with something else |
| Scheduled posting | The post is set in advance for a specific date and time | A Telegram channel post for Monday at 9:00 a.m. |

In practice they work together. One topic is prepared for several networks, scheduled for dates from the content plan, and goes out on its own. Agentix calls this whole setup auto-posting: posts go out to connected social accounts on the date and time from the plan, with no manual upload.

## Why does an identical copy lose views?

**In short:** Instagram recommends the original instead of a copy and checks whether a video has visible watermarks. A video downloaded from TikTok with the app's logo has a harder time getting into Instagram recommendations.

On April 30, 2024, Instagram announced 4 changes to how it recommends posts ([Instagram Creators](https://creators.instagram.com/recommendations-and-originality)), and 2 of them apply directly to cross-posting:

- When identical posts appear in recommendations, Instagram shows the original instead of the copy and labels the copy with a link to the original creator.
- Accounts that repeatedly post other people's content without materially changing it are no longer shown in recommendations.

Recommendations show your posts to people who do not follow you yet. Among the conditions for getting there, Instagram lists originality and the absence of visible watermarks. Your own video moved from one network to another does not become someone else's. But if it was downloaded from TikTok together with the TikTok logo, it already carries a visible watermark.

The same announcement says that a significantly edited video, for example one with a new voiceover, is not treated as a copy. So the rule is simple. Send each network a clean source file without other apps' logos, and tailor to each network what viewers see first: the opening of the video, the caption and the cover.

## Which formats fit each social network?

**In short:** each network has its own set of formats. On some the main format is a short vertical video, on others it is a post or a story, so one topic usually turns into 2 or 3 versions.

There are technical limits too. YouTube treats square and vertical videos up to 3 minutes long as Shorts ([YouTube Help](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/15424877)), so a horizontal video will not count as a Short.

The table shows the formats Agentix publishes to each of the 16 platforms on its list. The networks themselves support more; the table covers what you can put in the plan and publish automatically.

| Platform | Videos | Stories | Posts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| TikTok | Yes | No | No |
| YouTube Shorts | Yes | No | No |
| Facebook | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Telegram | No | Yes | Yes |
| Threads | No | No | Yes |
| LinkedIn | No | No | Yes |
| Pinterest | No | No | Yes |
| Bluesky | No | No | Yes |
| Reddit | No | No | Yes |
| Snapchat | Yes | Yes | No |
| Google Business | No | No | Yes |
| WhatsApp | No | Yes | No |
| VK | Soon | No | Soon |

## How do you prepare one post for several networks?

**In short:** start with a topic from your content plan, shoot a clean vertical source video, make versions for each format, write a caption for each network, schedule everything for dates from the plan and decide in advance who answers messages.

1. **Take a topic from your content plan.** Every topic has a goal: introduce the product, answer a common objection, invite people to book. The goal sets the call to action at the end of the video and in the caption. The [AI content plan](https://agentix.expert/en/content-plan/) page explains how the plan is built around funnel stages.
2. **Shoot or assemble a clean source video.** A vertical video without app logos and without text that only one network needs. If it will also go to YouTube Shorts, keep it to 3 minutes or less.
3. **Make versions for each format.** One source video becomes a clip for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, a story with a short excerpt, and a post or carousel with the main idea for Telegram, LinkedIn and Threads.
4. **Write a caption for each network.** The feed shows only the start of a caption at first, so put the main point in the first line. Keep captions shorter for Threads and Bluesky; on Telegram and LinkedIn you can go into more detail. The call to action is the same everywhere: where to send a message or where to book.
5. **Schedule the versions for dates from the plan.** It is easier when the schedule is set once, in the plan, and the service publishes each version to its network.
6. **Decide who answers messages.** A post on 5 networks brings questions to 5 different places, and they arrive the same day. Settle this before you publish.

You can prepare versions for different networks, schedule them and answer messages in one workspace. In Agentix posts go out according to the content plan you approved, and the [AI sales agent](https://agentix.expert/en/ai-seller/) answers customers in direct messages. The [auto-posting](https://agentix.expert/en/autoposting/) page shows how posting from the plan works.

## How do you choose an auto-posting service?

**In short:** check that the service connects your accounts without your password, that your TikTok posts are visible to everyone, and that the schedule lives in one plan for all networks.

- **No password.** An account is usually connected by signing in to the network itself and allowing the service to post on your behalf. If a service asks for your login and password, you are giving it full access to the account.
- **Public posts on TikTok.** TikTok lets services that have not passed its audit post only in "only me" mode ([TikTok for Developers](https://developers.tiktok.com/doc/content-sharing-guidelines)). Nobody but you will see such a video. Ask the service whether it has passed TikTok's audit, and check in the app who can see your first post.
- **Posting limit.** According to the same documentation, services can publish a limited number of posts to one TikTok account per day, typically around 15. That is enough for cross-posting, but you cannot publish dozens of videos a day from one account this way.
- **One plan for all networks.** If you have to set the date of each version in each network separately, the service saves less time than it promises.
- **Replies in the same place.** A service that only publishes leaves you to handle messages from every network on your own.

## What do you do with messages from different networks?

**In short:** gather them in one place and answer them all by one set of rules: the same prices, terms and next step.

When a post goes out on Instagram, TikTok, Telegram and Facebook, questions like "how much is it" and "how do I order" arrive on each of them. If the person is quoted one price on one network and a different one on another, they no longer know which to believe.

In Agentix the AI sales agent answers these questions. It takes prices and terms from the business knowledge base, guides the person to a booking or payment, and hands difficult conversations to a human. The AI sales agent works in direct messages on Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, and in comments on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok as well. The article [AI sales agent: how AI answers customers in social media DMs](https://agentix.expert/en/knowledge/ai-sales-agent/) covers what to hand off to AI in customer conversations and which platform rules to follow.

## How do you tell which network brings inquiries?

**In short:** look at inquiries and payments after a post and compare the post with the usual results of the same account on the same network.

The same topic gets a different number of views on different networks, and on its own that says little: the audiences differ. It is more useful to answer 2 questions: how many people messaged you after the post, and how many of them paid. To keep visits from different networks from merging into one number, each network needs its own tagged link: the tag in the URL shows where the person came from.

In Agentix every post gets a verdict: "amplify", "normal" or "stop". The post is compared with the usual results of the same account on the same network in the same format, and inquiries and payments count for more than likes and comments. ## Common cross-posting mistakes

**In short:** most mistakes come down to posting an unchanged copy everywhere and leaving messages unanswered.

- **A video from one network posted to another with its logo.** On Instagram a visible watermark can keep it out of recommendations.
- **One caption for every network.** A long text gets cut off on networks with short posts, and a short one does not explain the main point where people read in detail.
- **A horizontal video where a vertical one is expected.** On YouTube such a video will not become a Short.
- **Chasing the number of networks.** You get more from 2 or 3 networks where your customers are than from 10 where nobody answers messages.
- **A service connected with your password.** A password gives the service full access to the account.
- **TikTok videos only you can see.** This happens if the service has not passed TikTok's audit.

## How it works in Agentix

**In short:** one topic from the approved content plan goes out on the scheduled day to the right networks for each avatar, and the AI sales agent answers customers' messages. An avatar is the face that content is published under, for example the founder, an expert or a brand character.

- The Agentix list has 16 platforms, from Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts to Telegram, WhatsApp and Google Business. Posting to VK, MAX and Dzen will come later.
- Social accounts connect without sharing passwords, and posts go out according to the content plan you approved.
- Every avatar has its own social accounts and its own plan, so one business can speak with different faces in different languages. More on the [Avatar fleet](https://agentix.expert/en/avatar-fleet/) page.
- After a post goes out, the AI sales agent answers customers' questions from the business knowledge base.
